Housekeeping

General Purpose

Perform any combination of light cleaning and disinfecting duties to maintain establishments clean and orderly. Duties may include making beds, replenishing linens, cleaning rooms and halls, clean and maintain janitor’s closets, and vacuuming. Duties may include handle, transport, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.
  • Disinfect equipment and supplies.
  • Lift, push and pull required load (usually about 50lbs +).
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
  • Observe precautions required to protect hotel and guest property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
  • Replenish supplies, such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaners and shampooers.
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
  • Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
  • Clean and maintain janitor’s closets in accordance to OSHA standards.
  • Identify hazardous materials and take appropriate precautions to ensure safety.
  • Handling Biohazardous Waste.
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Follow all company safety and security procedures

Job Qualifications

Documentation

  • High schools or equivalent
  • Felony background check
  • Pre-employment drug test
  • Valid NM Driver License
  • Legal employment authorization
